The Great School Escape!
On Friday our Destinations classes got to work together in order to “escape” the breakout rooms at Improbable Escapes in Kingston. Let me tell you, it wasn’t easy. They needed to think creatively, persist when their first idea didn’t work, and collaborate, collaborate, collaborate! It was wonderful to see the amazing teamwork as they unlocked the legend of the Mayan temple, or as they broke out of detention in Love Letter Lockdown.
At the Agnes Etherington Art Centre students explored the works of artist Kent Monkman, a Canadian-Cree artist from Manitoba. Students got a guided tour of his paintings which present a different view from the traditional take on Canadian history, and then they participated in a group discussion and art workshop where they explored their own interpretation of truth and reconciliation.
Thank you to everyone who helped make the day a success!
